Linda Edna Cardellini's parents include businessman Wayne David Cardellini and Lorraine (Hernan). They were born at Redwood City in California. Linda is Italian (from her maternal grandpa), Irish (from her mother), German, English, and Scottish descent. Linda, California's youngest child is a native of her home in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the age of ten, old, Linda became fascinated with acting following her performance in the role of a singer in her school's Christmas production. The school play she performed in was as well as local community theater. Linda graduated from Saint Francis High School Mountain View, California. She studied acting in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London before launching her acting career on the British TV show Just William (2010). After her success as Lady Rose MacClare on the period drama Downton Abbey from 2012 to 2015, her first breakthrough role was in the fantasy movie Cinderella in 2015. James continued to play the role of the role of Countess Natasha Rostova for the television adaptation War & Peace (2016). James also appeared as Baby Driver (2017) and in period dramatics Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (18) as well as The Dig (2021), and musicals Mamma Mia! We're Back (2019) and Yesterday (2018). In 2022, her performance as Pamela Anderson was recognized with a Golden Globe nomination and a Primetime Emmy Award.
